Position Description: We are seeking candidates for a newly created position at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, UMN called Facility Operations Manager. This position is responsible for care/maintenance of the special University facility and oversight of the day-to day-operations of SAFL. The position will report to the Associate Director of Engineering, will supervise more than three full time staff members and be responsible for developing and implementing a program/policy/processes to provide a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree plus six years of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a team setting and desire to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students on a day-to-day basis.
  • Demonstrated experience with work-place health and safety protocols and safety training.
  • Experience managing facility operations.
    Proficient with written and verbal communication and comfortable with public speaking.
    Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and MS Project (or similar project management software)
    Experience with establishing budgets and cost estimates for facility, equipment, and personnel.
    Training in workplace safety and industrial hygiene.
    Experience with strategic planning for facility needs.
    Collaboration-minded with positive attitude and desire to support SAFL and UMN mission and goals.
    Experience working with UMN University Services (CPPM, FM, DEHS, Planning, Real Estate, etc).
