History of the Anderson Award

Dr. Alvin G. Anderson came to SAFL in 1945 and earned his Ph.D. in 1950.  He spent the remainder of his career at SAFL, and was a valued adviser to many graduate students.  His principal research areas included sediment transport and hydraulic structures.  After becoming director of SAFL on July 1, 1974, he died suddenly exactly one year later.  This award was established in his honor by his family and friends after his death in 1975.
