High resolution measurements of both sediment flux and topography are performed in this facility allowing research into the linkage between topographic complexity and sediment discharge variability. The "Flux-O-Meter" measures the volumetric discharge and fine sediment mass flux as it leaves the experiment. |
The Mountain Model Maker, developed at SAFL by visiting researcher Liam Reinhardt, creates scaled models of mountains using fine sediment and a synthetic rain system. |
