View of the SAFL building from the river

About

This space is the largest modeling space available at SAFL and occupies an entire floor of SAFL. It is dedicated to research on surface water, storm water systems, hydraulic testing and validation, Earth-surface process research, and physical model studies.

Features

  • 7.6 m wide x 54.9 long x 2.4 m vertical clearance (25 ft x 180 ft x 8 ft)
  • Discharge capacity: 16 cfs (450 l/s)
  • Adaptable to modeling a wide variety of river planforms, hydraulic structures, and sediment transport.
  • Supplied by 0.6 m3/s (20ft3/s) by three huge centrifugal pumps
  • Home to SAFL's largest data carriage system
  • Capable of research with large vertical drops such as pump lift stations and drop shafts
