This SAFL wind tunnel is designed for modeling of the air/land boundary layer. It can operate with recirculating or once-through flow; once-through flow can introduce freezing air temperatures to testing. There is a glass observation wall, rotating turntable, smoke generator, and laser instrumentation system.
Test Section 1: 52L x 5W x 5.6D ft (16x1.5x1.7 m)
Discharge velocity: 148 ft/s (45 m/s)
Test Section 2: 60L x 8W x 8D ft (18x2.4x2.4 m)
Discharge velocity: 62 ft/s (19 m/s)
