Gary Parker
Director of St. Anthony Falls Laboratory 1995-1999

Dr. Parker received his BS in Mechanics and Materials Science from Johns Hopkins University and his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota (where his thesis advisor was former SAFL director Alvin Anderson). He began as an Associate Professor at the UMN in 1980. After dedicating over 20 years to the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory (and serving as its Director from 1995-1999 and 2004-2005), Dr. Parker accepted a faculty position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. He continues to serve as Adjunct Professor at SAFL and remains involved with the National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics.
