Efi Foufoula-Georgiou
Director of St. Anthony Falls Laboratory 1999-2003

Dr. Foufoula-Georgiou received a Diploma in Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, a Masters in Engineering and a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida. She was introduced to the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory as Research Associate in 1985 and returned in 1989 as Associate Professor; she served as Director of SAFL from 1999-2003. Dr. Foufoula-Georgiou is currently the Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and also serves as Co-Director of the National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics. She continues to conduct research at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory in addition to her teaching and directing duties.
