
Roger E. A. Arndt
Director of St. Anthony Falls Laboratory
1977-1993
Dr. Arndt received his BCE in Civil Engineering at City College of New York, and both his master's and doctoral degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He came to the University of Minnesota in 1977 as a Professor in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering and Director of the St. Anthony Falls Hydraulic Laboratory. After serving as Director of SAFL until 1993, Arndt became Director of the Fluid Dynamics and Hydraulics Program at the National Science Foundation from 1995-1998. He returned to the University of Minnesota as a full-time member of the graduate faculty in Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, and the Water Resources Program.
Arndt was the 1968 winner of the Lorenz G. Straub Award, and continues to teach and conduct research at SAFL.
